Tailem Bend, Murray Bridge & Mannum

Hi everyone, arrived here in Tailem Bend on Sunday night, not really a place to write much about- a small town on the Murray river, about 20 kms east Murray Bridge. It is a scrappy little town with a total lack of charm, and the park we are in is fairly ordinary. We drove to Murray Bridge yesterday, a bit bigger town with some nice buildings but again not somewhere we would put our list to re-visit. We then drove to a little town called Mannum, not expecting much but it was charming, a lot like Echuca, but smaller..
Banks of the Murray at Tailem Bend.

Car ferry across the river ( run on 2 cables ) they take about 8-10 cars, & are free.  There are a few around here at different spots on the river.

Road bridge at Murray Bridge- the first bridge to cross the Murray River anywhere- I would have thought it would have been NSW/VIC.

Rail bridge- the Indian Pacific train crossing over it.

Some views of M.B.

This church in MB is the Anglican Cathedral of St John the Baptist- recognised as the smallest Cathedral in the world. Unfortunately closed, so could not look inside.

Ringing the bell  at the Cathedral

At Mannum- Paddle steamer "Murray Princess", absolutely huge, three stories & top deck. Does 3,5, & 7 night cruises.

Paddle steamer "Marion"

We crossed over the river at Mannum on the car ferry- a wildly exciting 2 minutes!
