Hi everyone, we have had a couple of long days on the road & are now in Tennant Creek, central Northern Territory, making our way to Katherine & then Darwin. We left Julia Creek early yesterday & travelled through Cloncurry & then Mt Isa and spent last night at Camooweal, just a few kms from the NT border. We left this morning at 7.30am & crossed into NT not long after. The Barkly Highway (east-west) meets the Stuart highway (north-south) at a place called Three Ways. Not much there but a roadhouse & camping ground, red dust & scrub. We were going to stay there tonight but booked out, so drove south 26 kms to Tennant Creek, which is not on our list highlights, really depressing. It has been interesting watching the landscape change along the way; very flat from Julia Creek then small hills around Cloncurry and much bigger ones around Mt Isa, then flat again after that. The vegetation changes a lot too, grasslands, scrub, trees and the soil is very red. Tomorrow we head due north for about 360 kms to a place called Dunmarra for 1 night, then we will spend at least 5 nights in Katherine & have a bit of a rest. We have covered a lot of ground in the past few days & are pretty tired.
