Darwin

Hi, we are very excited to have finally made it to Darwin, only took us 10 months!  Arrived here on Saturday and have not done a lot, just getting the feel of the place, but so far so good. Weather about 32 degrees, with a little bit of humidity. We went to the general Museum/ Art Gallery, unfortunately no photos allowed, the section on 1974 Cyclone Tracy disaster was very good.

X marks the spot! Tiwi Islands in the background

Along the road to Darwin there a lot of WW2 emergency airstrips

Big gun bunker- built after the bombing and never used- guns later sold as scrap in 1960; to the Japanese!
