Pemberton - Tall Timber Country

Hi, still enjoying the Tall Timber forests or WA, south east of Margaret River.  This region is called the Southern Forest region, & has  many wineries, orchards, cows, sheep & wood mills . The area has lots of rolling hills & is well known for the Karri Trees, a very tall straight  hardwood forest .  We have taken a few drives through the forests, the pictures do not do them justice.  There are a couple of trees here, about 70 metres high where you can climb them through a "winding ladder" to a platform at a 70 meter lookout, I would  rather die!

Ginny on the bottom 3 rungs, never go higher!  In this pic  you can see it is not actually steps but  horrible ladder rungs. I would rather kiss a snake!

This picture is zoomed, a platform at the top 60 to 70 metres above the ground, on the left of the trunk you can see the horrible ladder winding around the trunk.

Finally a park where we can light a fire!.  Nuked a steak on top, and loved it!

Railway & Tramway Museum 

Looking down the main street of Pemberton over the rolling hills, it is really a lovely town. 

Town was & is reliant on wood industry, but now also wine, food & tourism industry.  Some old workers cottages.
