Possum Park, 20kms north of Miles QLD

Hi everybody,

On the road from Goondiwindi to "Possum Park". Morning tea at Moonie roadhouse, a bit different to other roadhouses as it boasts some interesting paintings and stuffed wild pigs.

Weather warming up, about 25 degrees, but Grae is yet to lose the jacket.

Please do not touch- as if I would!

The writing on the gloves says "Neverlast"

Possum Park-a very interesting history. During WW2 it was the RAAF Central Reserve Explosive store.  It composed of 20 concrete underground bunkers.  RAAF Kowguran was the main explosive store on the Brisbane line, holding at times 2500 tons of bombs & ammunition. In 1985 the owners purchased the disused bunkers on 360 acres of land and renamed RAAF Kowguran as Possum Park. Several of the bunkers have been converted into self contained accomodation.
We don't usually see an aircraft out our caravan!  Bought as a rusted wreck, the owner has been restoring it slowly. It will eventually become accommodation also.
 Actual view from our van.

 Nissan huts, now group accommodation.
 Same with original train carriages.
Old train line where ordnance was unloaded

Lovely end to the day, on of the friendliest parks we have ever stayed in - definitely coming back!
