Mission Beach - Far North Qld

Hi everyone, we arrived at Mission Beach yesterday, a little coastal village about an hour south of Cairns.  The vegetation is very tropical, almost like a jungle.  There are acres of sugarcane, banana & mango crops & the area is very hilly , with lots of dramatic mountains in the distance.  Unfortunately the weather is not cooperating at the moment, not freezing, but overcast & showers, and a chilly wind off the ocean.  This area was hit very hard last year by cyclone Yasi, & before that a few years ago, cyclone Larry. We were told there was not one leaf left on all the vegetation, however you would not know it now.  Dunk Island (which we can see from here) has still not reopened.  We went to Innisfail today, again seems to have recovered well.  Below is a picture of me outside a luggage shop with the "Giant Backpack" in Townsville.
