Hi everyone, we arrived at Tenterfield yesterday, a lovely little town in northern NSW, made famous for 2 reasons. It is known as the "Birthplace of our Nation", Sir Henry Parkes' vision of a united Australia was presented in his famous speech at the Tenterfield School of Arts on 24/10/1889, which led to the Federation of all Australian Colonies in 1901. The other reason is it is the birthplace of Peter Allan, & is made famous by his wonderful song "Tenterfield Saddler", a song describing his Grandfathers 50 years plus as the saddler here.
Tomorrow I will take some more photos of the town's buildings. Today we had a pretty quiet day, still getting over the past 3 weeks, but we went up to a great lookout. The caravan park here is small & very quiet, owned by a lovely couple who bought it 5 months ago & have been very welcoming. The picture below is part of the caravan park, residence of the owners, also boarding rooms for backpackers.. It started life as a pub, & has had many a career change since. Our new VW is fantastic, I did half the towing yesterday, went like a dream, even through the very hilly countryside. It is also far more fuel efficient than the Triton, & far more comfortable! In another yet to be blog I will tell you about Glen Innes & it's Standing Stones- truly remarkable

This hill is called Doctor's Nose- some sheep rustlers stole the doctors sheep & hid them very close- in fact, right under his nose!
Looking towards QLD, the border is just before the distant hills
