Hi, today I visited the most amazing place in Tenterfield, called " Stannum House" Stannum means Tin in Latin, & the original owner was a Welshman who made his fortune from mining Tin. It was completed in the mid 1880's & was spared no expense in it's building. The house has gone through a lot of different periods, including an Army base during WW2, & at once stage was completely covered in white paint, inside & out. It was restored by a specialist over 12 years to it's original condition & the antiques inside are unbelievable. Some of these include a rug from Queen Victorias Buckingham Palace, a tablecloth from France, & the most beautiful handcarved furniture. I really can't describe it, just magic. Some photos below, mixed up with other sights around Tenterfield.
