Last Sunday we arrived at Karratha, on the Pilbara coast, approximately 1600 kms north of Perth. We were here just over 3 years ago and cannot believe the changes since then. The town was established in 1968 and is now one of the fastest growing towns in Australia. There are infrastructure, roadworks and housing projects everywhere you look. The weather continues to be very hot, around 39 degrees, fortunately the caravan park has a beautiful pool. We met up with some friends we made on the road back in QLD which was fun. Below are some photos of Dampier, about 13 kms away.

Just out of Dampier is the giant North West Shelf gas project. Above is 2 of the underground storage facilities for liquefied gas awaiting export. Its hard to covey the size of the place in photos.
