Ballarat

Hi everyone, we have been in Ballarat for the last week, tomorrow we move to Portarlington for  25 nights. We caught up with lots of friends here, unfortunately missed taking photos of Sarah, Judy, Fiona & Garry. However did this great photo of Maria & myself outside our van , we are doing our Thelma & Louise buddy grip, we will go over the cliff together!

Just about 8 kms outside Ballarat, big storms & lightning lit grass fires, no danger to us but the air was very smoky  in the park.

Some photos of Lake Wendouree

Kryal Castle, outside Ballarat, now closed to the public & looking very sad

Horsham & Mildura

Hi, this blog is more for my family.  This picture is of my  Grandma's house in Horsham, where years ago I spent many holidays, when I was very young. There was no second story then but my main memoires  are the little hedge in this photo was once massive, & my sisters & I had great times sitting on the veranda, & walking to our Aunties house one street away, now a  Woolworth s car park..

Also good memories of this park in Horsham, especially  New Years Day. It was the sports day, lots of fun when we were children..

Main Street of Horsham

Now to Mildura, only a couple of nights there. I didn't take many pictures..Above, the bridge across to NSW.

A little town  which is actually called " Speed "  hence the sign!  Basically just a general store & petrol station.

Horsham Caravan park, just about to hit the pools.

Today, driving to Ballarat, a photo of the Giant Koala at Dadswells Bridge, about 40 metres high, & looking pretty sad

We are now in Ballarat, not sure of our plans for the next few weeks.

Naracoorte

Hi everyone, spent last night & tonight at Naracoorte, again a lovely little SA town.  Today I went to the World Heritage listed caves, famous because of the fossils found there, some over half a million years old.  Tomorrow we are back in Victoria, one night in Horsham, then to Mildura & Swan Hill for a few nights, then down to Ballarat, almost the end of the great adventure!

Two different dwellings in the park, I especially loved the "Gypsy Van" on the left, once stayed in one very similar in NZ.

Mega Fauna, can't remember the Latin name, but basically a big wombat!

Inside the Visitor Centre at Naracoorte Caves.

Flat faced kangaroo

A face only a mother could love!

Giant kangaroo- over 2.5 metres high

Below- into the caves!

Mirror Pool, very hard to capture but the stalactites above are reflected in the pool below.

Columns - where stalactites meet stalagmites over thousands of years.

Bones of extinct animals in the fossil cave, below some photos of Naracoorte.

Swimming lake at Naracoorte, size of 7 Olympic swimming pools.  I want one!
