More of Hervey bay

Music at the Park

Lunch last Sunday at the boat harbour, pictured below are our meals, roast pork, crackling, & 10 vegetables for $10 each.  Pretty good value & great views.

A pelican enjoying himself  (or herself) on a lightpole.

Foreshore at Hervey Bay- it runs for about 15 kms  & it is beautifully landscaped & maintained.

Nola & Tony entraining us one evening- they were fantastic musicians.  Nola has a gravelly powerful voice, she sounded a lot like Tina Turner & preformed a couple of her songs ( Nutbush, & Proud Mary)

Another view- the man in the red T shirt is Rob, who owns the park & is very friendly; all the staff are too. He  put on a free BBQ a couple of weeks ago, also on Fathers Day a free morning tea, pancakes & scones.

Sign advertising the house on the Esplanade below "Asbestos Manor".  Don't really know the story here & priced at $5 million dollars, don't think I will be buying it!

Low tide, very shallow sandy bay, you could probably wade out a kilometre before your knees get wet.

Sand bar across the bay.

Spotted this house- they obviously believe in getting their Christmas decorations up early.

Hervey Bay

Hi everyone, still in Hervey Bay, QLD, until the 11/9, then back to Portarlington for 3 months.  The 2 photos below are of our day trip with Mum to Colac.  We are up at the lookout, looking out over extinct volcanoes. Taken about 3 months ago ( I have been a bit slack! )

travelling through QLD to Hervey Bay

Road hazard- stock being moved on the road, didn't get a shot of the drovers but they were there on their horses moving the herd along, with their dogs.

Our campsite at Dalby,QLD, the camp kitchen behind us.  Hard to see but 2 musicians playing country songs at the left of the kitchen. Plonked our chairs outside & enjoyed the free concert.

Catamaran " Spirit of Hervey Bay"- I went on the whale watching cruise last week.  Fantastic day aboard, left at 8.30 am, back at 2.30 pm.  Saw lots of whales!  Pictures below, but don't quite capture how close & big they were.

Just in case we land in the drink!

From the top deck- 3 levels of viewing areas.

Underwater viewing windows.

Fraser Island in the background, humpback whale in the foreground.

Our New Traveller

Hi everybody, one rainy day not long ago we went to have a look at caravans to fill in some time- 5 weeks later we have a Traveller Prodigy. The Traveller is one of best brands around , they are very well finished, and it has stacks more features than our old van.  We are very happy with it & very comfortable in it!
Picking it up at the dealership
The vans side by side for the change over

The club lounge- this was the main selling point for us as it gives us so much room, also the kitchen area has stacks of bench space & storage.

And of course the washing machine

Other features we love are the adjustable  LED lighting, outside speakers, built in BBQ, outside mounting for the TV, the list goes on.

Last few days in our old van, it was a bit sad to see it go as it served us well.
