Lake Argyle, WA

On the road from Timber Creek to Lake Argyle, just over the NT/WA border

Instant turn the clocks back, one and a half hours.  Went from lunch back to morning tea! Quarantine station at the border, they went through our van pretty thoroughly, all cupboards, fridge, and even checked under the bed, to make sure we had no fresh food
Campsite at Lake Argyle Dam in the Kimberleys WA. The dam is amazing, a shoreline of over 900 kms, the build started in the late 1960s.  One of the best camps we have stayed at.

Infinity pool!! Absolutely stunning. About 38 degrees, but the pool was still pretty cold

Katherine, Darwin

Hi, we have been in Darwin for 10 days now, and leave on Sunday 20/9 making our way to WA. After Mt Isa we overnighted at Camooweal, 14 kms east of the NT border. Below is a photo of our neighbor Marshall at Camooweal, we had never met him before but had mutual caravaning friends.  We have found some amazing coincidences on our travels

Barkly Homestead, on the way to 3 Ways, where you turn left to Tennant Creek and Alice Springs, or right to Katherine and Darwin.

The giant termite mound
At Katherine Gorge

Katherine River, near our caravan park, crystal clear waters, also the occasional croc!
On the road to Darwin, from Katherine to Darwin it is mainly WW2 emergency airstrips along next to the highway, built after the initial bombing of Darwin in February 1942, just 10 weeks after Pearl Harbour was bombed .
Stokes Hill Wharf, a lot of history here, now restaurants.

Wave pool at the beautiful Darwin Waterfront. The best fun I have ever had! The waves are generated for about 40 minutes, then it goes flat  for about 15 minutes- that's when Grae ventured in! I launched myself in a blue "doughnut" when the waves started again.

Sunset markets on the beach at Darwin

WW2 Gun turrets erected after the bombing, never used

NT News - This is after Malcolm Turnball won the PM battle, I think this headline gives you a good idea of the standard of news up here.
By the pool at our caravan park
I found this pretty interesting, after the bombing of Darwin, when vital oil tanks were destroyed, the Government built underground oil storage tanks, but  they were never used
