Nowra day trip

Yesterday we visited the Fleet Air Arm Museum just outside Nowra, which deals with the history of naval aviation.  It is housed in an enormous hanger & has over 30 different aircraft.

Ginny in the helicopter simulator, heaps of fun.  "Flew" over Sydney Harbour, but alas, got in a spin & crashed!

Road to the look-out

Today we decided to drive to the lookout in the mountains behind us. The road was mainly gravel with lots of potholes, but the Triton managed OK.  The road up was very scenic with lots of large rock formations (pictures follow). However, when we got to the lookout, 7kms later on a very narrow road, we found we had to walk the last 150 metres.  Unfortunately, we both were wearing shorts & sandals and the track was through thick bush so we didn't dare risk it. So no-go on the lookout!  There is a dam a further 5 kms on, so off we went.  The road really deteriorated after that, even narrower & big deep puddles of mud. Finally a monster size one defeated us- even using 4 WD we didn't dare risk getting bogged.  Of course, on this remote track, naturally there was another vehicle behind us! We managed to let him get past us-just- then had the happy task of reversing 1 km in the mud bath before we could turn around.
The birds here are beautiful, especially the rosellas. Last night they did a raid on the box of birdseed we had left outside; pecked their way through the carboard & gorged themselves silly.  Total mess under the annexe this morning.

Lake Conjola

Lake Conjola:  Arrived at this beautiful spot yesterday.  We travelled the 25 kms from our last stop at Lake Burril, just outside Ulladulla. At this rate we should make Qld in about 10 years! Below is a photo taken from the van, we are about 50 metres from the lake, looking over the picnic area. Real Autumn weather, cool early mornings then beautiful sunny days.

Ulladulla

Ulladulla

We arrived here last Saturday, its a quite location recessed back from the Princess Highway a number of water front sites however they were water logged due to recent rains. The Sites are big and all close to the amenities which are very clean and modern. Great swimming pool and kids bouncing bubble its a crowd pleaser. At 3 to 4 each afternoon they feed the birds. Lots off birds around the park we even have wood ducks come around for snacks. Ulladulla itself is a very busy town with a lovely sheltered harbor its starting to grow with Coles and Woolworth s and Big macs in town. Even traffic lights

Various photos.

We have had a great 4 days in Canberra, wish we had stayed longer. We visited the War Memorial (twice) and still didn't see it all. Other highlights were the Mint, Parliament House, National Art Gallery (we went to the Renaissance Exhibition which was brilliant), Mt Stromlo Observatory, Government House, look-outs, drove past various embassies & The Lodge. Very easy to get around & very light traffic. We were going to go to the Deep Space Observatory (about 30 kms away) but road was shut due to flood waters. Back to Moruya tomorrow for 2 nights, then inch further north.
