Destination Narooma

Narooma

Hi everyone,

We arrived at Narooma on the 21st Feb. It is about 75 kms north of Tathra and a lovely town pop 8500.
Like Eden & Tathra it is very hilly, so lots of great views to the sea on the east & the lakes & inlet to the west.
The first few photos show the entrance and looking back to the inlet. There is a small island close by called Montague Island.
A lighthouse was built there mid 19th century,& has a large seal colony.
The caravan park is fantastic, lots of trees, big sites, & a resort style swimming pool- we had a lot of fun splashing around yesterday.Stacks of birdlife,
 including parrots, galahs & kookaburras.
The weather has been pretty good, about 25 degrees and light cloud cover.

Pizza Night

Last night was great, earlier that morning we place our pizza order at reception and we received two cards with numbers on them. As the time wore on it was approaching 5pm and we could start to smell the wood fired pizza oven firing up and some smoke over the camp kitchen.
We produced our cards to Frank and Michelle and the other staff. Waiting for our pizzas was hard as the aroma in the kitchen was just inviting

We received our pizzas they were great

Tathra - we made it.

Well it been a long time coming we left the Eden caravan park at about 8:30 am, The first activity for the day was to have the van serviced. We also had awning bars installed , sway bar fitted and the tow ball weight measured. The Day before a van and car jackknifed just out of Eden, car and van were written off. The road out of Eden is up and up and even upper (what a climb) but we made it to Tathra with no adverse events.
The Tathra caravan park is great we have a lovely location. Bingo last night and Pizza night over in the camp kitchen. Mr Frankie J Holden will be our host. We were chatting with him yesterday great bloke. This is a very friendly park with lots of people dropping by for a chit chat.

Its Pizza night to nite

Two Fold Bay Eden

Today I went on 2 hr cruise on the Cat Balou, a catamaran, around Twofold Bay

Leaving the dock at Eden

That's me above the Whale Watching sign, sadly none around at this time of year

This is the beach we frequented often for a swim or picnic

Top deck

Quarantine Bay-acquired its name from a sailing ship which docked with a smallpox epidemic on board. The dead & cargo were buried ashore. When the ship left, the cargo was quickly dug up and sold!

Instructions on the lifeboat- I really liked picture 8-get the hell away!

Seahorse Inn- built by Ben Boyd in 1843. He hoped Boydtown would become the capitol of Australia.  Now a restaurant & luxury accommodation.

Looking back to Eden
Ship being loaded with 180,000 logs, destined for Japan

Edrom Lodge- built as private residence in 1910 with 28 rooms. Later became a guest house, then a prison farm. Locals say the inmates, sentenced to hard labour, spent their time surfing fishing, and playing for the local footy club.

Cuppa & bikkie aboard

I saw lots of dolphins, but they wouldn't stay still for me
